Mandolas comes from our Mandolas vineyards’ Cabernet Franc, presenting the most beautiful values of the terroir. The name Mandolas [in English: almond] refers to the almond trees grown here in the past. Almond tree grows where the noble grapes do. Its flowers symbolize spring, light and new-born life.
Concentrated, serious wine with elegant structure, but still refreshing. The complex aromas seduce the senses: the sweet spicy notes unfolds like the gripping atmosphere of a delicacy shop with coffee, chocolate truffles, roasted almonds and dried berries. Delicate experience with an everlasting finish.

“Favoured with beef, roasts, the red meat of venison with e.g. forest-fruit reduction followed by a bitter chocolate dessert.”

Vinification: The terroir and the extraordinary vintage gave the opportunity in our hands, to make this vineyard selection. The must was concentrated and mature. The fermentation was evenly balanced and was followed by the cold maceration (7 days). The malolactic fermentation and maturation took place in the barrels of 225 l, made out of Hungarian oak from Zemplen and Mecsek wood. Age: 65% new, 20% one year old, 15% two years old. During 18 months aging we selected only the most beautiful barrels and these were bottled separate as Mandolas selection.
